This year as usual I will be planting the main garden in tomatoes using 16 Bamboo Teepees as support. That's 64 tomatoes in the main garden. Also, I will not be 100% organic ths year. I feel my seedlings in the planting systems have been lacking essential nutrients neccessary for good growth in the past couple years. I will go back to using 1/4 tsp Bloom Plus to a gallon of water. Well, they were healthy alright. Too Healthy. They reached almost 20" with three weeks to go. I replaced them with little tiny sprouts, barely an inch tall. They transplanted beautifully and will be the perfect size when transplanting. I am hopeful,I will still be able to plant the Moon's Monster Bush Beefsteaks which I reseeded with low optimism and also have a few Rostova plants whch I started later, which may be salvagable. If I had a greenhouse, I could have transplanted all the tall seedlings, to large pots, but alas, I do not. No matter, these new sprouts barely have their second leaves and were given to me free of charge and and as luck would have it, all red slicers ie: Big Boy, Super Steak, Early Girl and Red Beefsteak, but no way of knowing 100% sure which is which. I will be able to adjust the map slightly after they start to ripen, as I know my early girl vs. my Big Boys. I will make these new plants my own. [edit] So much for accuracy of freebies :) There were pink in them there seedlings, LOL! She atleast gave me a clue to decide on what the pink is. It's Pink Ponderosa. I have made change in the map above based on my observations. April 28: Nope! Moon Monster seeds will never make it, so I bought some Big Beef and changed the info in the map, above. Rostova was getting huge, so I gave them away and bought some German Queen. [edit] Lost Big Beef, replaced with more Jet Star and some Caorolina Gold.
May 3: Measured 1.2" of rain today.
May 4: Plant garden tommorow. Plants that I bought look great, the ones I had replaced in trays are perfect height now :)
May 5: Garden is in and only one wilted. I thnk I disturbed the roots on the one.
May 6: Mulched the garden and boy does it look good. Tested my soaker hoses and couldn't even see a wet spot come through the mulch. Also, set up my bags and teepees for my 6 plants on hill. Expect them to arrive by week's end.
May 8: Measured .25" of rain
May 9: Measured 1.25" of rain Got my order of plants for the bags, but 4 of 6 were substitutions for my preferences. They sent common crap, that I could buy anywhere, if I liked them; which I didn't. So, I had to go shopping and found a new greenhouse, which had wonderful plants for $1.25. They actually had Sweet Baby Girl (Cool). Replaced the missing Cuor Di Bue, Barlo, etc, wih Chianti Rose, Champion and Carmello. I have been wanting to try Carmello for years.
May 12: Measured 1.5" of rain
May 15: Measured .20" of rain
May 16: Measured .75" of rain
May 18: Measured .80" of rain
May 19: Measured .45" of rain
May 20: Measured .20" of rain
May 27: Measured .20" of rain
May 31: Measured .90" of rain

MAY UPDATE:

WOW! We got 7.7" of rain in May. That's wet. Plants are growing slowly, but hey; a head start is a head start. My single plants are even better, as I had them wrapped with plastic. I have a few 4th of July tomatoes already on. Once the heat comes, they wil grow fast.
